Our church

Welcome to First Presbyterian Church of Yazoo City, a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America.

The Bible is dear to us. We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the holy, infallible, and inerrant word of God, the only rule of faith and obedience. Therefore, the exposition of the Bible is prominent in our worship and educational programs.

We are committed to historic Christian worship in the Reformed tradition, Christian fellowship, missions and evangelism, and the education and nurture of the church's covenant children.

Our beautiful sanctuary seats 294 in “theater” seats, rather than conventional pews.  The chapel seats approximately 133. If needed, over 500 can be seated by mechanically raising a wall that divides the sanctuary and chapel areas.

Our education wing was renovated in 2021 with updates to the lobby, church offices, fellowship hall, and the addition of larger restrooms. The nursery was also moved upstairs and renovated. Scroll through the pictures of our sanctuary, chapel, and renovated education wing below.

In addition, FCP has purchased two adjacent properties to serve our growing church community.  The Tinnin House is located at 228 Main Street and serves as a Bible study and event venue.

The Cookie House serves as a Sunday school building and is located on 234 North Washington Street.

Featured here is a section from a 1941 postcard featuring the Tinnin House.

This postcard made its way to Saco, Maine in March of 1941.
